The new year is here! I know the idea of a fresh start that comes with the new year is more appealing this year than ever before. Change appeals to all of us at some point or another because all of us, if we’re honest, recognize that we need change at some point in our lives. Some need minor changes, and others require significant life changes because the path that they are on is destructive. Change can be useful for some people, but change is only as good as the agent that causes our change. Let me illustrate this idea. Louis is a guy that grew up poor and maligned. He always desired a change because he wasn’t satisfied with his lot in life. He started to learn how to do skate tricks and acrobatic feats that made him popular at school.
Once Louis became popular, he was still missing something. To fill that void, he started to get into music and even became one of Bill Haley’s Comets. But still, there was a void in his life, a change that he needed. Louis turned to drugs and women but still couldn’t fill the void until Louis heard the gospel. There are countless stories like Louis’. There are innumerable people in this world searching for a change, people who have tried everything and have not found the changes they need. Jesus says I and the way the truth and life. If we want real, lasting change, it is only through Jesus Himself that our souls can be satisfied. Jesus is the only person that can fill the voids that we are struggling with; He is the only person that can satisfy our deepest longing. Louis had fame and all the benefits that came with it. But it wasn’t until he found Jesus that his life became significant. If you’re reading this devotional and want lasting change in your life, I invite you to reach out to us and request personal Bible studies. Through scripture, I guarantee that you will find Jesus to be all that you have ever needed. Through His Word, you will discover lasting change for the new year. Jesus will be the ultimate new year resolution that you can stick to.
