Back in the early 2000s, my family and I would take road trips to San Luis Obispo, California. Everyone in my household would always be running around, gathering their belongings, and trying to put last minute things in the car. We drove the tiniest car, a Chevy Geo Metro, so we would always be crammed and squished closely together. As my dad turned on the car, we all got in the car and left the house. During one of our trips, we were an hour into our drive when my dad suddenly realized he forgot his paper map for directions to our destination. During those days, paper maps were the only source to finding directions, finding a hotel, or locating a specific hospital. There was no way to find our destination without the map.
Similar to the map, God has given us the Bible as our map for you and me to study line upon line, scripture upon scripture, to give us direction in our life, and to follow closely to where He wants us to go. The beautiful thing about the Bible is that not only it gives us directions, but it also gives us directions on how to direct people to the feet of Christ. In Psalms 32:8, it says “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with my loving eye.” God has not only given us direction for our life, but will instruct us in the way to go.
Inevitably my dad had to stop and pick up a map before we could continue our trip. Have you taken time today to stop and pick up God’s “map” – His Word? I encourage you to dive into God’s Word and share it with someone else. We are truly privileged to be set as light bearers to show others the way to Heaven!
